BBQ/Chilli Cookoff

The Annual Walker County Fair & Rodeo, BBQ/Chili Cook-Off Event is held the last Friday and Saturday of the fair. Each year we have 60 to 70 BBQ Teams competing. We have had some of the best tasting briskets in Texas. There are several other meat categories such as chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. We can’t forget to mention the “to die for” dessert dishes along with the delicious chili and bean category. It’s also very surprising to see and taste the amazing recipe’s the BBQ Teams prepare for the Open Category, which is a dish of their choice. The BBQ Committee enjoys getting kid’s involved at a young age by competing in the Kid’s Category which allows children 12 and under to be very creative by preparing a tasty and yummy dish of their choice. Come enjoy all the mouth watering, heavenly BBQ aroma’s lingering in the air and check out the wonderful themes these BBQ Teams come up with, some are a sight to behold.
