Our 36th Year
Sales & Buyer Groups
Premium Livestock Sale

Premium Sale is Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 7pm in the Main Building

Buyer's Pre-Sale Party begins at 5:30pm with an opportunity to sign up for Buyer Group or register as an Individual or Business.

While the Fair and youth participants are indeed fortunate to have many local businesses, business owners and individuals attend the sales to purchase the various livestock and other auction items, many wishful supporters simply may not have the financial ability to make such a purchase outright.  But here is the good news.  For those still wanting to support these future citizens and leaders, there are a number of buyers groups organized for that purpose.

Monetary add-on will be accepted from individual(s) or businesses for any youth sale item offered in an approved sale at Walker County Fair (Premium sale, Supervised Project, Freezer sale, Horticulture, Art, Baked & Canned Goods).

Add-on forms will be available at the approved sales and livestock office during fair week. Each add-on recipient will be notified of donor and amount in order to send thank you letters.
  1. Add-on monies received are not included in any maximum allowable price equations.
  2. Add-on money amount may be any dollar amount equal to or greater than $25.00 per child.
  3. Sale Pictures are not furnished by the exhibitor to the add-on money donors. Official pictures are not taken with add-on donors.
  4. Add-on monies are not reported on the final sale price of the project. For example: If a steer sells for $5000 and $100 is received in add-on, the sale price is shown as $5000.
  5. Add-on is a donation since the donor does not get a share of the project to which it is being applied. Add-on donors are not entitled to any percentage of the project being contributed to.
  6. All add-on donations must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on the closing day of the fair. Under no circumstances will add-ons be accepted after this time.
  7. Add-on money has the same commission percentage deducted as other project sales at the Walker County Fair.
Investing in Our Youth

Among the highlights of the Walker County Fair are the youth project sales or auctions.  In addition to the Thursday night Premium Sale, in which the 15 top placing entries in each livestock event are auctioned off, the Freezer & Other Project Sale is held on the last Saturday of the fair.  Each youth participant in the fair is allowed to sell only one project, regardless of the number of events entered.  Most of the participants use fair proceeds to purchase project animals, feed, and supplies or to build facilities for next year's fair.  When they reach their senior year, the hard-working youngsters will have reached the end of their eligibility to show at the fair and for most, they are off to college or trade school.  Nearly all of the fair participants use the funds they've earned through the years of fair participation, along with other savings and financial assistance, to support their postsecondary educational efforts.
